Thanks for the 'recommendation', though many of us need a little more info to whet out appetite about staying at the Sidehill House B&B for the London 2012 Olympics.

Have to give you 10 out of 10 for pure cheek because from what I can see from Google maps, you're closer to Bishop's Stortford and Stevenage than the north side of the M25 let alone the Olympic venues

Can't blame you for trying though

Hello Richard, you're really welcome to check out our website Sidehill House - Luxury Bed & Breakfast - Home for some more info about what we're offering. As you'll see the journey time into the Olympic park is about 45 minutes door to door which is of course much shorter and significantly more pleasant than travelling across London. This beautiful grade I listed Jacobean house in the country may not be your cup of tea :0) but we are hoping that it may be others cup of tea, because we are looking forward To being able To people into our home over this period. You'll also see that we are right near stagnated, providing a great stop for being popping in and out of the Olympics using Stansted airport.

BTW whilst appreciating the effort that you have gone to to check out our distance on google maps, I made the journey myself yesterday from my house to Stratford (I was on my way to the 02 to see the Strictly Come dancing tour!), and on a Sunday without the fast trains that will be laid on next summer it took me 50 minutes door to door - not bad eh?

Thanks for your input Richard! you're a gem ;0)

Pity because 70,000 volunteers are looking for accommodation and if you were within the M25 would have filled your rooms a 100 times over!

Hi Sidehill House, you may be right about the hot and dirty tube to cross London for the Games because I read today that it looks like the rail union may well be going on strike unless they get their way for more money and conditions. No surprises there then!

As regards your B&B, well it certainly looks very nice on the website. Must check out the reviews on Trip Advisor.

Divingbrit, you may be in luck because I am led to believe that Locog have dumped quite a few thousand hotel rooms back on the market.

True there are now more Hotel rooms back on the market, and that should bring the price down from say £200 a night to £180 a night! Great for an overnight stay for a visitor, but no good for a volunteer who needs somewhere to stay for 10 days , us volunteers still looking for campsites, dormitories , floor space!
