Serviced Rooms & Apartments in London

7th March 2011, 21:21

Dear readers.

I would like to start a discussion about the increase of Serviced Apartments in London. The main reason that comes to mind is the quality/price compare with traditional accommodation and also the privacy that serviced apartments give you!
This new concept of accommodation has considerably increased in the last three years and the forecast is quite positive.Serviced Apartments are the new way to enjoy of all the facilities that you have at your home, specially for business travellers.

According to the Serviced Apartment association there are 5 main reason to use Serviced Apartments:

1. More Space to live and work comfortably: On average a serviced apartment provides up to twice as much space as an equivalent standard of hotel room. It offers a separate kitchen, a properly equipped living/working area and bedroom/s. Guests can therefore work remotely very productively.

2. Cost-effective accommodation solution:With travel budgets increasingly under pressure, business and leisure travellers. Find serviced apartments offer excellent value for money. There will be no ‘hidden extras’ (drinks from the mini-bar, room service charges etc) and wireless internet access is normally included in the price making it easier to keep within budget.

3. Flexibility within a home-from-home environment: Guests enjoy the flexibility of being able to choose to eat in from time to time; whether it be employing a chef to host a dinner party in their apartment, or relaxing on their own with a home-cooked meal. Business travellers in particular can spend several weeks or months away from home and appreciate a home-from-home environment offering maximum flexibility and independence.

4. Quality: Serviced apartments offer a very high standard of contemporary furnishings and everything you would expect of a hotel room and more:
- a fully equipped kitchen (with dishwasher & washer/dryer),
- High quality bed linen, towels, and toiletries
- First-class home entertainment facilities – Sky TV, DVD, CD and the very latest in-room technology.

5. Privacy: Generally serviced apartments offer a greater degree of privacy

Definitely I believe that Serviced apartment will be the best solution for travellers that come to London for the Olympics!

Regards

Hi Irene and welcome to our UNOFFICIAL London 2012 Olympics forum.

Having seen the possible astronomic prices demanded for a two day stay in London to watch the London 2012 Olympics I think you may have a point.

I doubt very much that the average household in the UK will be willing or able to spend upwards of £1000 for a two night stay in a hotel in order to watch the 2012 Games no matter how enthusiastic they are about the London Olympics.

Perhaps LOCOG should be asking for UK laws to be changed to stop hoteliers from overcharging for this event.

Ultimately it will be down to whether the average UK family thinks it will be better to stay at home and watch the 2012 Games on TV, or spend money on making the trip down to London, staying in an expensive hotel, and buying tickets for all the family.

Good job we're not in a major recession!
