Householders go online to rent out homes for 2012 Olympics

16th November 2008, 09:10

A WEBSITE goes online on Friday for householders in East London who want to rent out their property to tourists and foreign visitors to the 2012 Olympics.

Those living in the five Olympic boroughs are being leafleted this week to register their properties online free on a 'no ties' basis to rent to spectators, journalists or families of athletes.

Fees will be charged to organisations and individuals looking for accommodation during the Games, with five per cent of net profits used to set up a fund to sponsor an athlete from East London.

Media and other organisations including travel firms, foreign Olympic associations and airlines are being invited to register to rent rooms or properties once the site stacks up enough properties.

A Home for the Games website comes online November 14

This is good. When I visited London last year I stayed with a host family. It was organised by www.londonhomestays.com The family were really nice, it was cheaper than a hotel and the best part is they will have me back for 2012 without charging me double.
