Cheap hotels in London

7th September 2008, 11:46

Whilst there is no such thing as a cheap hotel in London I would definately recommend taking a look at the Travelodge hotel chain in London which aims to be the biggest hotel brand in Central London (within the North and South Circular), with a target of 7,000 rooms in the Capital in time for the London 2012 Olympics.

We stayed over earlier this year at the Travelodge hotel on the London City Road, EC1Y 1AE in time for the Chinese New Year Celebrations, and saved a substantial amount of money, the hotel was very close to the underground so we were able to do some sightseeing in London on Saturday before the event.

The room was clean and tidy with a nice big double bed plus bath and shower. Nothing flash, but ideal for sightseeing purposes. We paid less than £50 per night for this double room which considering there was an event taking place in London I thought was very reasonable.

If you're interested, take a look at the Travelodge website for an up-to-date list of hotels and special offers.

It would seem that the hotel room bargains are starting early at Travelodge with thousands of rooms being offered at a mere £19 per night for stays in December & January - some might say it's an early Christmas present.

If you're interested in this offer please take a look at the Travelodge website.

Imperial hotels are very inexpensive. They are in Bloomsbury so they are not real close to the center.
= If you have a little more money, the Strand Palace Hotel is in a better location. The single rooms are fairly cheap, but they are like barracks.
= An inexpensive walkup with a very very central location is the Royal Adelphi. It is on a side street next to Charing Cross rail station.
= Travel Lodge in covent garden is pretty good.
= Premier Travel Inn in County Hall is usually booked, but it's right next to the London Eye.

Hi,

There are many cheap budget and luxury hotels in London suitable for business and leisure travellers, for families, children and groups. These hotels are located within walking distances of the underground stations and all major tourist attractions.

Olympics is a great event and more and more people will try to book the hotels as soon as possible. So the Hoteliers will try to raise the hotel rate. So it is possible that we may not find budget hotels in London so easily. I will recommend to look for good deals and do research on this and then book hotels.

Thanks for being optimistic and call hotels in London "cheap"

I have been in London several times in the past and staying in anything from a room rented out zone 4 to central luxury hotels (getting older brings some benefit), none of these could be called cheap anyway better to take the suggestion and at least look for the cheaper hotel deals (which for 2012 olympics I am afraid will be expensive).

Take pity on those who have volunteered to help at the Olympics, anything up to five weeks . Already looking at camping in back gardens and room sharing . Personally I will have a good hours journey before and after each shift.
