Google Maps and The London Underground

14th February 2012, 09:37

Imagine a map of the London Underground, No, not the map we normally see, that is just a graphic showing the differnent stations laid out in a simple order, bears no relation to where the tube goes in real life.
No a real map, in fact google maps, so you can drag and zoom, now what about adding where the tube trains are on those lines, in real time, where they are at this very moment?
Sounds a bit far fetched, well since Transport for London allows anyone to view their data about train arrivals and departures, and with a clever bit of mathematics, you can now see the tube trains moving around the underground system!

Thanks divingbrit for the Google map, I wasn't aware of it's existence until you posted the link.

To any guests intending to visit London for the 2012 Olympics and use the London Underground or the London Buses, invest in a Oyster card because it will save you a shed load of money and save you from the day to day hassles of buying a ticket and figuring out the complex pricing options.

And trust me, buy yourself an Oyster card online BEFORE you arrive in London - This I speak from bitter experience. You do NOT want to be queuing up for over an hour to buy an Oyster card like all the other overseas visitors are forced to do.
