The wave-shaped Aquatics Centre roof has been successfully lifted and lowered into place.
Located at the south of the Park, the eye-catching Aquatics Centre will form the main ‘gateway’ to the Park.
It is on track to be finished for Test Events in 2011, with the concrete diving pool also complete and work well underway on the two 50m competition and training pools.
During the Games the Aquatics Centre will have capacity for 17,500 spectators. After the Games it will be scaled down to a 2,500-seat venue and provide world-class facilities for the community and also elite competition.
ODA Chief Executive David Higgins said:
‘The Aquatics Centre will be a new landmark building for east London and will offer elite and community swimming and diving facilities in legacy.’
