WANTED - New Upper Forum Banner

16th February 2006, 12:15

We are looking for help and assistance from any art designers, graphic designers, or good old fashioned painters to design a truly stunning unofficial 2012 London Olympics banner for this forum...

The banner in question is the upper banner shown on every page of this forum.

The banner needs to be of clean design with all original artwork used - i.e, not copied from any other websites

It doesn't matter whether you are young and at school, or an older artist, amateur or a professional - The end result is what matters - Not your qualifications!

Schools might wish to consider the above...

The upper banner image needs to be 730 pixels wide x 126 pixels high.

In return I think a link back to your own website if you have one would be good, along with your acknowledgment for creating this stunning piece of artwork.

Please use the 'Contact Us' link shown at the bottom of each page if you are interested in having a go.

Look forward to hearing back from you sometime soon

Regards,

Richard

Rich, i've jsut read this wanted post, is your offer of a new upper banner for the forum still open?, can I design the banner in flash, what format do you want the image file, jpg, jpeg, tiff, bmp, png?

I've copied the existing image your using for the forum,so you still want the lower strip left intact or can I use carte-blanch with the new design?

Hi there GB 2012 & AMcHarg,

I added this thread back in Feb 2006 asking for help with the upper banner design for the forum but it fell on deaf ears which was a shame considering this forum is now listed very high up in the Google rankings.

According to Alexa we're now ranked in the top 100,000 of UK websites, though I assume we will fall back following the finishing of the Beijing 2008 Olympic games.

I'm currently in conversation with a couple of graphic designers though of course the offer is still open.

GB 2012, the current banner is in gif format but that's only because no photographs are used. As far as I'm aware file formats jpg, jpeg, or png are perfectly acceptable, though I'm not too keen on the use of animated flash banners because older browsers may not have the ability to view them.

I guess the theme is English but without the tea and scones - vibrant, bright, but not too garish/gaudy if you know what I mean. I love the use of the English flag waving in the wind, such strong colours.

AMcHarg, thanks for the idea, looks good with London in the background and the 2012 logo to the left, you're certainly moving in the right direction, though I'm not too sure about using that 'official' logo, I can see certain legal obstacles appearing in the near future if we used that one!

Not being graphically talented is so bl**dy annoying considering the fact my father was astonishingly talented in the artwork department be it pottery, water colours, oil colours or photography, etc. I guess the arty genes skipped a generation where I was concerned!

Please send me a PM by clicking on my user name displayed to the left of this message and selecting 'send a private message' from the drop-down menu if you have any further ideas.

Once again, it's great to receive your feedback
