Flat Available for London Olympics

16th December 2011, 21:05

Hi there, we own a well presented, modern two bedroom penthouse apartment with easy road and rail access to the Olympic site, and it is available to rent for the duration of the games.

This 3rd (top) floor apartment has two bedrooms, a bathroom with bath/shower/toilet and a second ensuite with shower/toilet. Kitchen with oven/stove/micowave/fridge/washer/dryer. Dining/living room and second lounge upstairs. Built in 2005, it is in very good condition, fitted out to modern standards and fully furnished. Secure off street parking and an easy walk to either Gillingham or Chatham town centres and rail stations, with express services to London Victoria (approx 40 mins).

Sweeping balcony views of the river Medway, Upnor Castle, Rochester Castle and Cathedral, and located in a quiet village with several pubs within just a few yards walk. It is also a short drive to the M2 - which is a direct, dual or triple carriageway road to the Blackwall Tunnel and the A12 (Olympic site) - total journey time approx 40mins.

Nearby attractions include:
Historic Chatham Dockyard
Rochester High Street (the home of Charles Dickens), Cathedral and Castle
Chatham and Gillingham High Streets and shopping precincts
Dockyard Outlet Shopping centre and Cinema
Numerous restaurants and pubs
Great Lines fields, open space and lookouts
Black Lion Leisure Centre, a training base for the British Gymnastic Team
Gillingham Football Club, shortlisted to be a training base for a competing nation

If you are interested, send me a message and I can provide photos and a very reasonable price.

Hi glen006 and welcome to our UNOFFICIAL London 2012 forum.

Thank you for your post about your flat in London you are looking to rent out ahead of the London 2012 olympics which I trust is legitimate - otherwise you will have more police and security staff breathing down your neck than you could ever imagine!

Yes, all legit. Lived in it for a year with my UK wife before we emigrated back to Australia and have been renting out since.

Lease ends in June and we will be over there to clean it up ready for the two weeks, will meet the people who end up staying there to hand over keys, run through things, etc, while we stay with my wife's family..

We have just returned from a holiday in Scarborough near Perth which we found fantastic in terms of weather, but stunningly expensive in terms of food, drink and accommodation.

Not wishing to dig too deep, but where would you recommend for emigrating in Australia?

I've heard that Melbourne or Sydney are far cheaper options, but what is the standard of living compared to the UK?

I am so ashamed to read of scams re accommodation for the Olympics. How sad that people coming to Britain have been treated so shamefully. We have a lovely garden flat in our own home - small but very comfortable, which we keep for our friends and relatives when they come to Britain for holidays. If anyone is looking for accomodation, we are close to Dorney Lake for rowing and it is not difficult to get into London by public transport. It has one double bedroom, a large living room, kitchen and bathroom. We would not charge exorbitant rents ! If anyone is interested it is available from 30th July to the end of August.
Please reply with an email address and I will send more information and photos.

ps I am a 'newbie' to this site and to computing so I hope I have done all the
correct things for this post !
