London 2012 ticket resale website reopens but not to buy17th January 2012, 19:57London 2012 reopened their ticket resale website today, though members of the public hoping to get their hands on more tickets for Olympic events will have to wait until April as the site will initially be used for returning unwanted tickets.
The resale programme was originally opened at Official website for London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games tickets on January 6, but the system crahsed and led to the platform being suspended. From 3pm GMT today it will be open after the problem was resolved, and London 2012 commercial director Chris Townsend apologised for the hiatus. "We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the suspension of our ticketing resale platform," he said. "We made a commitment to our customers to give them a safe, secure and legal way of selling Olympic and Paralympic tickets which they are no longer able to use. "We are delivering on that commitment, and will buy any tickets that customers are no longer able to use." Tickets can be sold back to London 2012 at face value until 6pm on February 3. Townsend confirmed that tickets bought back from the public would be made available for resale in April, with further information to come regarding how to purchase these closer to the time. Tickets for Olympic football and the Paralympic Games are still on sale until February 6.
