THE ROLE:
Background and Job Purpose:
The London 2012 Organising Committee's Security Team is responsible for the provision of 'in venue' security for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. It works closely with the law enforcement agencies to ensure a cohesive and co-ordinated security response.
This role will support the development of the Security and Policing plan as set out in the London 2012 Candidate File, Games Foundation Plan and other related documents.
The primary roles of the post holder will be:
* The definition and identification of venue security requirements
* The development of security operating concepts
* Operational security planning
There will be an extensive need to work in partnership with the other security agencies and other functional areas to ensure operational co-ordination is maintained.
Key responsibilities/accountabilities:
* To establish and develop the London 2012 Organising Committee's Games time operating concepts in partnership with law enforcement agencies and internal functional areas
* To provide technical and operational security input into the London 2012 Organising Committee's venue overlay design processes
* To integrate the London 2012 Organising Committee's operational security needs with partner security agencies including the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA)
* To assist in the development of a security roadmap for operational delivery of security in partnership with the relevant security agencies and in line with International Olympic Committee (IOC) requirements
* To develop an operational transport security plan in partnership with the London 2012 Organising Committee's Transport team and other external partners for the Olympic family
* To scope operational security requirements for test events
* To represent the London 2012 Organising Committee security team at Venue Operations meetings, follow-up agreed actions and, where necessary, compile reports including recommendations for senior management
* To create and populate a venue profile matrix to identify and benchmark security needs at all competition and non-competition venues
* To inform the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the London 2012 Organising Committee and partner security agencies
* To manage the London 2012 Organising Committee's "in-venue" operational security budget
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Key skills, experience and qualifications required:
* Experienced in managing security operations in a high-profile multi sport Games environment
* Experienced in translating client requirements into efficient security operations
* Knowledge and understanding of the security components of the London 2012 Candidate file
* Detailed technical knowledge and understanding of sporting venues' security requirements
* Recognised expertise and experience in security aspects of event planning (planning at international level, especially related to sport and/or the Olympic movement considered an advantage)
* Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary organization and to build active, co-operative partnerships with external organisations in an integrated manner
* Direct practical experience of providing technical/operational security expertise to venue infrastructure housing major sports events
* Dynamic, self motivated and innovative
* An ability to work under pressure
* Excellent IT, written and verbal skills
* Willingness to undergo security vetting to 'SC' or 'DV' level.

Salary Range: circa £46K
Term of appointment:
The appointment will be made under the terms and conditions of LOCOG full time employee contracts. The employment term is for a finite period and will automatically terminate on the conclusion of the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2012.
