Well done Divingbrit, keep us up-to-date with the interview to become a Games Maker

From the title of your post I thought you meant that you had received your tickets for the London 2012 Olympics early

Spent the day at the Excel Center, was there to become a member of the Protocol, team, which seems to be meet and greet the visiting teams, and Officails, and become the first point of call for them for help and advice. saw films, ate a few chocolates, talked to fellow game makers , ate a few chocolates, had my photo taken for my ID Card, and then went for my interview, talked about my strengths, (did not take long) about my weaknesses, (took longer ) and what I could bring to the games. Then had a few chocolates, all in all not too bad, they wanted people who could work with a team, and think out of the box, but I came away with a feeling it had gone quite well, and finished by eating a few chocs.

Cadburys is a top level sponsor of the games, so had to try out their free samples.

If all goes to plan when will you know if you have been successful to become a member of the team?

I thought you had been shown round the Thorntons Chocolate factory

October they will send the invites out, quite hopeful as the protcal team has been 'fast tracked' ie: certain teams are put together first, as far as I can make out , they interviewed the specialist teams first, IT, Medical and Sport related have now all been interviewed, when our team is done that will be still less than 10%, of the total needed but regional recruitment centers are now coming on line, for instance Coventry opened this week.

I noticed at the selection event I attended, the average age was fifty+ , and bearing in mind the aim was to have half the volunteers to be less than 27, it seemed to me that for the Protcal team they needed experienced members. I spoke to a couple of others and we were all people who had held middle management positions , solving problems, but with a customer related background.

The questions at the interview were the type that led you to believe they wanted someone who could think 'out of the box' and solve a simple problem fast.

Don't think we will be selling programs or serving in the canteen.
