Reporting to: Security Operations Manager
Locations: Canary Wharf, E14
Background and job purpose:
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Ltd (LOCOG) security team is responsible for the provision of ‘in venue’ security for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. It works closely with the law enforcement agencies to ensure a cohesive and co-coordinated security response.
The post holder would report to the Security Operations Manager, who is responsible for the delivery of the security overlay and operational plans for all Olympic and Paralympic competition and non competition venues.
The primary roles of the post holder will be:
* The definition/identification of venue security requirements.
* Development of the security overlay plans in partnership with other LOCOG functional areas and the law enforcement agencies.
* Develop the operational security plan for venues within the cluster.
There will be an extensive need to work in partnership with the other security agencies and LOCOG functional areas to ensure operational co-ordination is maintained.
The post holder will be required to initially focus on matters of security overlay and infrastructure, moving on to operational matters in line with the Security programme. In addition to the necessary security skill set the post holder must display excellent stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills.
Key responsibilities/accountabilities:
* To be the single point of contact for all security matters pertaining to the cluster.
* To provide operational security input into LOCOG’s venue overlay design processes.
* To develop LOCOG’s Games time Venue Security operating plans in partnership with law enforcement agencies and internal functional areas for the cluster.
* To implement Games time security policies and procedures, ensuring a seamless cooperation between all LOCOG functional areas, ,external stakeholders and venue owners.
* To assist in the development of the technical and personnel security requirements for the cluster.
* To develop C3i requirements and structures in line with the organisational plan, thereafter implementing and managing them in the operational phase.
* To negotiate the law enforcement agencies requirements and take them into account to ensure an integrated security plan for overlay and operations.
* To integrate planning with the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), ensuring that our requirements are met.
* To scope and deliver operational security requirements for test events.
* To represent the LOCOG security team at various venue planning meetings, follow-up agreed actions and, where necessary, compile reports including recommendations for LOCOG senior management.
* To manage the LOCOG operational security budget for the cluster.
* Coordinate the roll out, operation and decommissioning of venue security systems.
* Support the day-to-day activities and operations of the Security Operations Centre and Main Operations Centre during the Games Security Operational Period.
* Provide a line management role for venue security managers within the cluster.
* Create and submit project progress reports on key milestones and deliverables.
* Other appropriate duties and tasks as assigned by the Security Operations Manager.
Skills, knowledge & experience required:
* Experienced in managing security operations in a high-profile multi sport Games environment.
* Experienced in translating client requirements into efficient security operations.
* Knowledge and understanding of the security components of the London 2012 Candidate file.
* Detailed technical knowledge and understanding of sporting venues’ security requirements.
* Recognised expertise and experience in security aspects of event planning (planning at international level, especially related to sport and/or the Olympic movement considered an advantage).
* Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary organization and to build active, cooperative partnerships with external organisations in an integrated manner.
* Direct practical experience of providing technical/operational security expertise to venue infrastructure housing major sports events.
* Dynamic, self motivated and innovative.
* An ability to work under pressure.
* Excellent IT, written and verbal skills.
* Willingness to undergo security vetting to security cleared or developed vetting level.
