London 2012 iphone app

London 2012 surely needs to develop a London 2012 iphone app to help visitors find their way around London and the 2012 games, perhaps providing information on venues, athletes, official merchandise, underground, buses, etc?

I've been looking on the iPhone app website and though there are several apps for the London Tube including the excellent app from Malcolm Barclay there is nothing to date providing information for visitors visiting London for the 2012 games.

With less than 800 days till the opening of the London 2012 Olympics I do hope a more up-to-date solution is provided to visitors looking to visit the 2012 games.

Hi London2012pins, thank you for your info regarding the iPhone app for Wimbledon which I have now downloaded. This app is precisely what I had in mind, though would recommend to LOCOG that they work in conjunction with Apple to produce a really stunning piece of graphic design together with well designed code.

If LOCOG were to contact Steve Jobs at Apple I am sure that something could be worked out

Im sure they will produce something, as well as a load of game apps like the finger runner, or flick javelin. Olympic Finger boxing would be fun too. There will be hundreds closer to the games.
I agree, working with Apple is a goo idea, or at least a well established app designer.
The wimbledon one was a good first try, so in two years it should be amazing.

Hi sleathy and welcome to our UNOFFICIAL London 2012 forum, am sure the number of London 2012 apps will increase quite substantially as the event grows closer, I just feel that if the official London 2012 site gets in first with the app they will have a head-start on the rest of the competition.

I would love to have a go at making an iPhone app for London 2012 but am pretty sure there are some far smarter and more able people out there who could do a far better job than I. Would be happy enough to promote the app should it be become available.

The Wimbledon app was certainly interesting and considering the number of people owning an iPhone here in the UK and abroad it just seems the natural (and relatively inexpensive) thing to do.

Here's hoping that someone at LOCOG is reading these posts

The more I use this app to view the tickets, sports, venues of the London 2012 Olympics, the more I think this is a very valuable tool for anyone considering visiting London to watch the 2012 Games.

I personally have no financial interest in this app, but this unofficial 2012 app does provide a stunning amount of information about the London 2012 Games.

Why LOCOG didn't go down this route last year is astonishing, I can only assume that ever more red tape and financial restrictions were to blame.

This app is so simple to use that it opens up the whole world to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

I nearly bought two London 2012 opening ceremony tickets when I realised that not all the tickets cost £2012.

This type of unofficial enthusiasm has to be good for the London 2012 Olympic Games, especially when they have less than 30 days to sell 6 million tickets!
