BOIC and VLM Airlines join forces
14th October 2005, 17:17
The Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee and VLM Airlines are joining forces. Yesterday they signed a contract concerning the Olympic Business Club / Olympic Games 2012.
The Olympic Business Club is a joint initiative of the BOIC and Agoria, which has as most important objective to bring together and support Belgian companies in their efforts to supply products or services to the organisers of large international sporting events including the Olympic Games of 2012 that will take place in London.
With this contract VLM Airlines wishes to emphasise its involvement in the Olympic Games of 2012 in London. As the main carrier at London City Airport, with over 440 weekly flights, VLM Airlines wishes to emphasize to the business community that it offers the fastest connection to and from the future Olympic site. From Belgium VLM Airlines offers 11 flights every weekday to London City Airport: 6 from Antwerp and 5 from Brussels.
London City Airport is a mere 10 minutes from the future Olympic site and will play a major role for passengers involved in the preparations for the Olympic Games of 2012. The airport of London City is the sole airport that is actually located inside London and has the great advantage that it offers short check-in times (20 minutes before departure). Its embarkation and disembarkation procedures are also extremely fast, allowing passengers to step into a taxi 10 minutes after their plane touches down. In addition, in December of this year the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) will be linked to the airport, allowing passengers to reach their destinations even more rapidly. The DLR is an integral part of London Transport and will be connected to the network of the London Underground.
Johan Vanneste, Managing Director of VLM Airlines, is thrilled about the contract concerning the Olympic Business Club and says: “In the period leading up to the Olympic Games in London in 2012 there will be an increasing number of Belgian companies travelling to London. We expect a lot from this excellent initiative and are particularly proud of being part of it”.
On 20 October 2005 the Olympic Business Club is organising a seminar concerning the concrete possibilities with regard to doing business in the sports world, with the emphasis on opportunities in the context of the Olympic Games 2012 in London.
