London 2012 has received two awards for its PR and Marketing campaign.
At the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) Awards on 28 September, London 2012 won the Judges' Award for Best Communications Campaign and Team of 2005.
Chairman of the PRCA Crispin Manners said that London was awarded the 2012 Games due to its robust communications and marketing campaign in which public relations took a leading role.
"Evaluation carried out during the campaign revealed that London 2012 received double the amount of international coverage compared to the competing candidate cities.
"The London bid has been quoted as a shining example of how effective communications can really bring value."
London 2012 has also been awarded Honorary Superbrand status from the prestigious Superbrands organisation.
Superbrands International Director Bill Colgrave said of London 2012's bid campaign:
"What impressed me about the bid when it came to the final days in Singapore was that they seemed to present their case in a way that no other city had done.
"They were saying; we do not want the Olympic Games for Great Britain; we do not want the Olympic Games for London.
"We want the Olympic Games in London but for the world and for the world of sport particularly emphasising the need to leave a lasting legacy for the next generation.
"London 2012 were able to sway the votes of the IOC by treating the Olympics as a responsibility rather than a reward.
"We at Superbrands are proud to honour London 2012 with Honorary Superbrand status for 2005."
