Olympics will create jobs
8th November 2005, 17:28
GREENWICH could attract more jobs and contracts from the Olympics thanks to a £9m investment package.
The London Development Agency (LDA), London Mayor Ken Livingstone's agency for business and jobs, will roll the money out across east and south east London.
It will be used to deliver training and employment schemes so businesses and residents can take advantage of job and contract opportunities generated by the Games.
The schemes include one-to-one support for job seekers and assistance for firms competing for Olympic contracts.
Mr Livingstone said: "I have been clear from the start the London Games must deliver the maximum benefits for people and communities.
"This funding shows we are getting the framework in place to make this happen."
